The crown chakra is the seventh chakra in the body’s energy system. The purpose of this chakra is to connect us directly to the greater universal life force energy.
The focus of the crown chakra is to let the need for control go and instead start to go with the flow. The crown chakra brings the realization that letting go is not surrendering or sacrificing but allowing and trusting in the flow of life force energy.
When the crown chakra is imbalanced a feeling of discontentedness and uneasiness arises. This discontentedness is a feeling of never being satisfied.
When in balance the crown chakra allows universal life force to flow freely to all the chakras in the body’s energy system. The free flowing life force energy brings peace and ease to the w-holistic self; body, mind and spirit.

TECHNIQUES TO BRING BALANCE BACK TO THE CROWN CHAKRA
DETOXIFY
Detoxifying helps your body to dispose of what it no longer needs. Eliminating toxins refreshes the body’s energy system. Detoxifying is an important step in bringing balance back to the crown chakra. Detoxifying can be done by fasting, drinking plenty of liquids, or sweating. Fasting isn’t right for everyone so please choose an option that is best for you.
Sitting in a hot tub or sauna for a few minutes is a quick and easy way to detoxify. This helps the body to dispose of toxins through sweating. Remember it is important to rehydrate after doing some of these techniques.
DETOXIFYING BATH
A simple way to clear negative energy within the crown chakra is to take a detoxifying bath. You can create a detoxifying bath by adding a cup of Epson salts to a tub of hot water. Soak in the detoxifying bath for thirty minutes while inhaling and exhaling deeply during that time.
The Epson salts draw out any negative energy while the deep breathing technique allows the Sha Chi (negative energy) to escape and fresh Sheng Chi (positive energy) to fill your lungs.
SMUDGING
Smudging is a spiritual purification process. Before smudging, be sure to clean the room you are going to perform the smudging in. This helps to clear the room of stagnant energy. Open a window or a door to let the Sha Chi escape and let the Sheng Chi in. I prefer to perform smudging with sage.
Light the sage bundle and place it on an incense plate. State your intention of purifying the room around you. Walk around the room using your hands to wave the sage smoke to all corners of the room.
Once you have smudged the entire room you can then smudge you body with the sage. While the sage is still burning on the incense plate, wave the smoke towards the top of your head. Continue waving the smoke down your entire body ending at your feet. Of course if you have a medical condition such as allergies or asthma this technique may not be suited to you. End the smudging by waving a circle of smoke in the air.
FORGIVENESS
Releasing any negative attachments that you hold in your mind such as; a grudge, emotional pattern or belief system is a way to bring balance back to the crown chakra. When you let go emotionally and mentally by forgiving you are, essentially, hitting the reset button for the crown chakra. Forgiving clears any blockages that could prevent life force energy from circulating within the crown chakra.
Bringing balance back to the crown chakra enables life force energy to flow freely through the body’s energy system. Maintaining your body’s energy system is a great technique for self-healing.
